As I was looking for socks to order for my company, I realized there’s way too much information to scour through and hopefully by writing this down, my experience would help you sort through the unnecessary bull-ish on the web.
My assignment was to create roughly 100 pairs of custom socks for my company party; we wanted our logo to scatter on the socks. A typical design template would do and in our case, it turns out to be a difficult task. We came across numerous companies online stating they can do what we wanted but most of the samples that came back were terrible. What we learned is that there are two types of methods to imprint your logo onto the socks. The first method is call knitting, is basically sewing the logo together at low level resolution (yarn by yarn). This only works if your logo is simple and uses a few colors. The second method is called dye-sublimation, using heat transfer to press the entire logo onto the socks. If you a complicated logo like ours, this should be the way to do it.
The most important thing I’ve learn from my experience ordering custom socks is very simple, find a company that’s reputable with great quality products, and the only way you can do is keep ordering samples. Some companies will cost money to do it and some are free. Fortunately for us, we hit the nail right on the head early in our search, Prosocks’s custom socks were able to provide both good service and great product. Samples came in perfect and the price was excellent to begin with. I know I haven’t given you a lot of insight but those are some of the things I’ve learned, hopefully this save you some time if not some headache.
