If you like numbers, 2048 is the perfect pastime. In this game of logic, you need to slide tiles numbered 2 or 4 on a grid. As you merge two tiles with the same numbers together, you get a new tile with the sum of their values. Random tiles keep popping up at each turn. Victory is ensued when you manage to get a tile with the number 2048 before filling up the grid, however, you can challenge yourself and continue playing indefinitely.
Bubble Shooter
Its simple design, straightforward rules and soothing popping sound effects make this game so satisfying to play. Shoot colourful bubbles to explode groups of the same colour, until the whole grid is clear. You can play bubble shooter from your browser while talking on the phone or as a 5-minutes break during lunch time, but try and keep and eye on the clock – this game can become pretty addictive.
Wordle
If you like word games, you must have heard of Wordle, the New York Times’ most popular game. In Wordle, you have six tried to guess a five-letter word. The colours highlighting the letters give out different clues. Made popular by Twitter, this game exists now in more than ninety languages, including Klingon!

You need to create an account to play this game, however, the basic version of the game is free and available online. In this Google Maps-based game, you are virtually dropped on a random street which could be anywhere in the world. Using Google Street View, you must explore your surroundings in search of clues to figure out which is the correct location. But be quick – time is ticking!
